Some may be old enough to remember when our forests, rivers and parks were “secrets,” known mostly to local residents who had cabins or favorite hunting spots. The word later got out, but slowly, and visitors from the Pittsburgh region and northern Ohio came to check out the natural beauty of this area. |

Boots, Bikes ... paws join in fun at Oil Creek

Boots and bikes are not strangers to the trails within Oil Creek State Park, but this year a group of four-legged friends also were added to the list of visitors. In addition to a list of necessary restoration and maintenance, the first annual Paws and Play event was held at the park on Sept. 27. |

The economic development program created by Oil City Council in 2006 has two main strategies: marketing Oil City as a relocation option for artists from other parts of the country and developing an arts center in Oil City’s downtown. |
The Great Outdoors offers lots to do

The more than 400,000 visitor guides that are distributed annually have served as welcome mats to the Great Outdoors Visitors Bureau in a region called the Pennsylvania Wilds. Such visitor guides boast hometown celebrations, hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, horseback riding, geocaching, mountain golfing and all-terrain vehicles and snowmobile trails — just to name a few. |
