Glenn E. “Buck” Yates, 87, of 34 Paxton Road, Sandy Lake, died at 8:10 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2009, in UPMC Shenango after a short illness. Born Feb 7, 1922, in Stoneboro, he was the son of James B. and Ruth E. Fisher Yates. He was a 1941 graduate of Stoneboro High School. He was married July 27, 1946, to Frances Isobel Collins, who preceded him in death Oct. 9, 1999. Mr. Yates was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. Glenn retired as a machinist from Cooper-Energy Service of Grove City in 1983 after 42 years of service. He was a member of Lakeview United Methodist Church. Glenn was a 51-year member and past master of Lake Lodge No. 434 , F&AM, of Sandy Lake, and New Castle Consistory. He loved to walk and would stop and visit while he walked. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially for trout. In later years he especially enjoyed visiting with his friends at McQuiston Center. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jerry R. Ditzenberger and her husband, Pat, of Sandy Lake, and a son, James G. Yates and his wife, Pam, of Clarington;. six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Thomas Eugene Yates; a great-grandson, Levi Yates; and a sister, Mildred E. Rosenberg. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Scott A. Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro. A Masonic service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Funeral sevices will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with the Rev. James G. Young, pastor of Methodists United In Faith, officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Cemetery, Worth Township, Stoneboro. Memorial contributions may be made to Lakeview United Methodist Church, P.O.
