Obituary - H. L. ‘Bud’ Tenney

H.L. “Bud” Tenney of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Oil City, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 1, 2008.

During his battle with cancer he continued to praise the Lord and only desired to see the face of God.

Mr. Tenney was born in Reno, Venango County, and moved his family to Arizona from Oil City in 1967.

In 1980, he purchased the Carr Mortuary in Tempe, Ariz., and operated it until April 1995.

He then returned to school and trained in massage therapy and herbology. He worked for Banner Health and then in private practice until he became ill.

Bud enjoyed carving wood caricatures, fly tying and stream fishing. He had a passion for teaching Bible classes and reading, and he was a tender and gentle man who believed serving others was something all people should aspire to.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy; his son, Mark, and his wife, Barbara, of Mesa, Ariz; a daughter-in-law, Christine, of Chandler, Ariz; and a Korean son and daughter, Rev In-Hee and Hae-Young Han of Mesa, Ariz.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a brother, Robert L. Tenney and his wife, Beverly, of Michigan; four sisters, Eva Sottiaux of Mesa, Ariz., Ruth Sottiaux of Oil City, Helen Polm and her husband, Thomas, of Rockland, and Doris Schwab and her husband, Thomas, of Franklin; a sister-in-law, Sally Tenney of Chandler, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Carr Tenney Mortuary, 2621 S. Rural Road, Tempe, Ariz.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.

Interment will follow at the Arizona National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix.

Donations may be made in Mr. Tenney’s name to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1120, Mesa, Ariz., 85211; Hospice of the Valley, 6063 E. Arbor Ave., Building B, Mesa, Ariz., 85206; or a charity of one’s choice.
