Woolen Mills Bridge closed to traffic

Woolen Mills Bridge, which carries Factory Street over Lake Creek in Cooperstown Borough, is closed to traffic until further notice.

A press release issued by Venango County said the closure is necessary to ensure public safety as a precaution following an inspection that identified significant corrosion on the bridge.

The county has not determined a timetable to reopen the structure, and motorists are advised to allow extra time and find alternate routes around the closure.

About 200 cars a day use the bridge, according to county officials.

The bridge is already slated for replacement and the project is in the engineering and design phase.
