Police & Fire Calls
One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 9 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of routes 36 and 208 in Washington Township, Clarion County.
Tionesta state police said Daniel R. Friedl, 55, of Ridgway, failed to stop his vehicle at the intersection and collided with a vehicle driven by Sheila M. Long, 41, of Pittsburgh.
Amber Dawn Hill, 19, a passenger in Friedl’s vehicle, was taken to Clarion Hospital for treatment of moderate injuries, police said. An address was not listed for Hill.
Both drivers and a total of three other passengers escaped injury.
Farmington Township accident
A Marienville resident was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 11:05 p.m. Wednesday on Route 66 near Sportsman’s Paradise in Farmington Township, Clarion County.
Tionesta state police said Bree Weaver was traveling north when the vehicle crossed into the southbound lane and off the highway, then struck a utility pole. Weaver’s vehicle then rolled over and came to rest on its roof, police said.
The vehicle received major damage, police said.
Man hurt in crash
A Strattanville man was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday on Route 322 in Strattanville.
Clarion state police said Raymond A. Lutz, 45, of Strattanville, was traveling east in his Jeep when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole.
A passenger, John W. Lutz, 20, received injuries to his right arm, and he was taken to Clarion Hospital for treatment, police said.
Oil City accident
Oil City police and fire personnel responded to a crash at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday on Veterans Bridge as motorists and pedestrians were headed to the North Side for the city’s Jolly July 3 celebration.
Traffic was backed up on the bridge for a short time as officers investigated the incident.
An Oil City police dispatcher said Friday a report on the accident had not been completed, and no information was provided to the newspaper by press time Friday.
Burglary arrest
A Knox man has been arrested on burglary charges.
Mason Powers, 21, is accused of breaking into a residence in Beaver Township, according to Clarion state police.
Charges were filed before district judge Amy Long, police said.
Rape, assault reports
Clarion state police are investigating reports of a rape in Sligo and a sexual assault in Clarion Township.
Police said the reported rape of a juvenile in Sligo occurred in either late 2006 or early 2007. Troopers say the reported indecent assault of a juvenile in Clarion Township occurred June 26 of this year.
Drug arrest
An Emlenton man was arrested by Franklin city police on drug charges.
Police said James Hager, 37, of 305 College St. in Emlenton, had marijuana and drug paraphernalia in his possession when officers responded to a complaint of loud music on Monday at a residence in the 1400 block of New Street in Franklin.
