Downtown OC restaurant closes

The Il Colosseo Ristorante on Seneca Street apparently shut its doors a week ago.

The Il Colosseo Ristorante in downtown Oil City has closed.

The restaurant, located in the former Daffin's Hallmark store quarters at 227 Seneca St., opened in late 2006. It apparently shut its doors a week ago.

The owners, former New York City residents Alfonso and Antonella Badalamenti, could not be reached for comment.

The eat-in, take-out restaurant offered a variety of Italian cuisine entrees.

It is the second Italian-style food provider to close on the city's North Side in the past few weeks. Vocelli Pizza at 329 Seneca St. abruptly shut its doors in late April.

Meanwhile, Little Ceasar's Pizza is apparently eyeing a former service station property on Oil City's Main Street for a new pizza outlet.

There is also talk that a brand-name gasoline station/convenience store may open in a former service station on Grandview Road.
