Termination of officer upheld

The Pennsylvania Civil Service Commission Monday upheld the termination of a former Sugarcreek Borough police officer who was arrested on DUI charges in January.

Patrolman Brett Hill, 32, was terminated by borough council by a unanimous vote in February following an executive session.

Hill, who had been an officer with the Sugarcreek police for several years, was stopped by Franklin police in January and found to be DUI.

Borough solicitor Brian Spaid said Hill was terminated for conduct unbecoming an officer and other violations of police rules and regulations.

Spaid said Hill will have a period of approximately 30 days to appeal the commission’s ruling.

“I don’t know what his intentions are, but as this point in time — he was terminated — and that was upheld by the commission,” Spaid said.
