Sandy Lake man indicted on child porn charges

James Stringer, 42, is accused of distributing, receiving and possessing child pornography.

A federal grand jury in Pittsburgh has indicted a Sandy Lake man on child pornography charges.

Pittsburgh-based U.S. Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan announced on Friday that James Stringer, 42, of Georgetown Road, Sandy Lake, was indicted Wednesday on charges of distribution, receipt and possession of child pornography.

The indictment says that Stringer allegedly distributed child pornography on April 15, 2006, received child pornography on July 22, 2006, and possessed child pornography on Sept. 22, 2006.

Federal sentencing guidelines provide for a maximum total sentence of 50 years in prison, a fine of $750,000, or both, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman, who presented the case to the grand jury.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials conducted the investigation leading to the indictment, Buchanan said.
