Clarion County arson

Somebody set fire to a shed located in a wooded area just west of Route 68 behind the Comfort Inn in Monroe Township, Clarion County, state police in Clarion said.

The 40- by 20-foot shed was valued at several thousand dollars, police said.

The fire was set between Sunday and Tuesday, according to police.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call 226-1710.

Sligo man injured

A Sligo man was injured in a one-vehicle accident at approximately 7:35 p.m. Wednesday along Bodenhorn Road, just west of Route 68, in Monroe Township, Clarion County.

Hugh James Myers, 52, of Bodenhorn Road, Sligo, was traveling west when he lost control of his vehicle on a curve, state police in Clarion said.

The vehicle struck the guide rail, flipped onto its roof and then back to its wheels and then traveled into a pasture, striking two trees, police said.

Myers was treated at Clarion Hospital for injuries of unknown severity, police said.

Tionesta accident

An Ellwood City man was injured in an accident at 4:30 p.m. Thursday along Route 36 in Tionesta Township, Forest County, state police in Tionesta said.

Martin Daniel Bradley, 30, of 217 Hickernell Road, Ellwood City, was driving north on Route 36 toward Tionesta when he lost control of his vehicle and crossed over the southbound lane and struck a rock embankment, police said.

Bradley was transported by Tionesta Ambulance Service to the Titusville Hospital for treatment of moderate head and neck injuries, police said.

The Tionesta Volunteer Fire Co. and Forest County Sheriff Department assisted at the scene.

DUIs

State police in Butler arrested Nancy Michelle Sherwood, 44, of Parker, at 4:20 a.m. Thursday along Route 268 in Hovey Township, Armstrong County, after she got a flat tire and her vehicle struck the guide rail.

State police in Franklin arrested Kimberly Mitchell of Franklin at 2:05 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Grant and Pine streets in Franklin.

Warrant arrest

Kathy Sue Novak, 50, whose last known address was RR 4, Box 160L24, Franklin, was arrested at 11:15 a.m. Friday at 6 1/2 Fourth St., Rouseville, by Venango County sheriff's deputies on a warrant for failure to pay fines and costs on an original charge of drug possession.

Simple assault

Justin Snyder, 26, of Rimersburg was arraigned on charges of simple assault and domestic violence following an incident at 10:15 p.m. Sunday at Medardo Apartments in Rimersburg, state police in Clarion said.

Snyder is accused of striking a 24-year-old Rimersburg woman in the head with his fist during an argument, causing bruising and a chipped tooth, police said.

Snyder was arraigned before District Judge Nancy Kadunce and placed in Clarion County jail after failing to post $30,000 straight cash bail, police said.

Harassment

Eddie Doverspike, 54, of Mayport, was charged with harassment and criminal mischief following an incident at 12:01 a.m. Saturday at Woodlands Tavern in Redbank Township, Clarion County, state police in Clarion said.

Doverspike allegedly punched the window of a car owned by a New Bethlehem woman and grabbed her by the head, police said. He also called her during the early morning hours after he was advised by police not to contact her, police said.

Daniel Rhoads, 19, Gerald Ferroni, 54, and Elizabeth Ferroni, 37, were all cited with harassment after a verbal argument escalated into a fight at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at 55 Main St., Strattanville, Clarion County, state police in Clarion said.

Rhoads and Gerald Ferroni began to fight, and Elizabeth Ferroni kicked Rhoads several times while he was on the ground, police said.

Rockland Township accident

A South Park man received minor injuries in a one-vehicle accident at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday on McDowell Road, just south of Wood Hill Road, in Rockland Township, state police in Franklin said.

Joseph L. McGinnis, 39, of South Park was traveling north on McDowell Road when smoke began rolling out from under the dash of his vehicle, police said.

McGinnis attempted to pull off the road and struck a tree, police said.

He was transported to UPMC Northwest by Community Ambulance.

Thefts

Franklin police arrested Kathryn Sloan, 22, of Oil City, for allegedly stealing two gold bracelets valued at $400 from a Franklin residence at 1:56 p.m. Thursday.

After Sloan was arrested, police discovered she was in violation of her probation.

Someone stole a tailgate from a pickup truck at Hartzell Motors in Knox sometime over the past week, state police in Clarion said.

Attempted burglary

Someone attempted to break into a Strattanville home sometime Tuesday or Wednesday, State police in Clarion said.

Police said several such incidents have occurred in the area and asked anyone observing suspicious activity to call 226-1710.

Oil pumping equipment stolen

State police in Clarion said 25 pump jack weights were stolen from two oil leases in Porter Township, Clarion County.

Copper wire stolen

Copper wire was stolen sometime between July 11 and July 14 from a live electrical substation located just west of Myers Hollow Road in Clarion County, state police in Clarion said.

Had the thieves cut a live wire, they would have been electrocuted, police said.

Copper wire was also removed sometime over the last month from a Verizon Wireless cell tower along Canoe Ripple Road at Exit 53 of Interstate 80 in Beaver Township, Clarion County, police said.
