SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Michael Conforto hit his fourth homer in the past six games as part of a six-run second inning for the San Francisco Giants, who beat the Philadelphia Phillies 6-3 on Monday night to snap a three-game skid.

Conforto's team-leading eighth home run came with two aboard and the Giants trailing 2-1. Wilmer Flores, Mitch Haniger and Brandon Crawford also produced runs in the inning, which matched the Giants' biggest of the season.

Tim Kleindienst scored in the ninth minute of injury time for Heidenheim to clinch Bundesliga promotion at Hamburger SV’s expense with a 3-2 win at Jahn Regensburg on the final day of the season. Hamburg fans were prematurely celebrating their team’s promotion to the top tier on Sunday when they stormed the field after a 1-0 win at last-place SV Sandhausen. They thought their wait after five seasons in the second division was over. Heidenheim had 11 minutes of injury time to get the two goals they needed for automatic promotion. It’s Heidenheim’s first-ever promotion to the Bundesliga. Hamburg still has a chance. It finished third in the second division and will contest the relegation/promotion playoff against Stuttgart.

Formula One champion Max Verstappen’s lights-to-flag victory at the Monaco Grand gave the Red Bull driver his fourth victory of the season and extended his championship lead. Spanish veteran Fernando Alonso was a season’s best second for Aston Martin as he collected a fifth podium in six races. Frenchman Esteban Ocon secured third place and a rare podium for Alpine. For most of the race Verstappen coasted on a dry and narrow track where overtaking is the hardest in F1. But an incident-free race in Monaco is rare and heavy rain played havoc with about 20 of the 78 laps left. Some drivers pitted for the wrong medium tires and slid around on a wet track.

Spanish golfer Pablo Larrazabal won the KLM Open by two strokes to claim his ninth title on the European tour and a second in the space of four weeks. The 40-year-old Larrazabal started the final round with a one-stroke lead and shot 3-under 69 at Bernardus Golf. Larrazabal punched the air repeatedly and beat his chest after rolling in a putt from 21 feet at the last for a third birdie in his final four holes. He finished on 13 under par overall. His round began badly after making a double-bogey 6 at No. 2 but he recovered with back-to-back birdies from No. 6 and then came home in 32.

At first, Aryna Sabalenka thought the boos and derisive whistles coming from the French Open crowd were directed at her after a first-round victory. Instead, the negative reaction was aimed at her opponent, Marta Kostyuk, for not participating in the usual post-match handshake up at the net. Kostyuk, who is from Ukraine, avoided so much as any eye contact with Sabalenka, who is from Belarus, after the match, instead walking directly over to acknowledge the chair umpire. It’s something Kostyuk has been doing whenever she has faced any opponent from Russia or Belarus since her country was invaded by Russia, with help from Belarus, in February 2022. Sabalenka won 6-3, 6-2.
