Cranberry Township on Friday declared a disaster emergency as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and business shutdowns.

The declaration is similar to ones issued by surrounding municipalities and counties.

The designation allows the municipality to bypass some procedures and practices in obtaining assistance, making purchases and more.

The new workforce arrangement means all employees will remain on call and will be "available during regular working hours," according to township Supervisor Chad Findlay.
