Bright sunshine and clear weather that made for a beautiful late spring day on Wednesday also had temperatures soaring into the upper 80s and pushed the heat index into the 90s on Wednesday.
For Tessa Williams, William Vogus and their children, it didn't take long for the heat to persuade them to cut short their playtime in Franklin's Riverfront Park.
Williams said the family wanted to "get out of the house" and spend some time at the Ninth Street park.
"We've been cooped up, we're getting stir crazy," Williams said.
According to the National Weather Service, high temperatures will cool to the mid-70s today and Friday under generally clear skies before getting just a bit cooler over the weekend, which will come with some chances for rain.
