Area unemployment rate rises

HARRISBURG - The tri-county area's February unemployment rate - for the most part - was up from January, and above both the statewide and U.S. seasonally adjusted averages of 7.3% and 6.2%, respectively.

According to the state Department of Labor & Industry, Venango County's rate of 8.4% is four-tenths of a percentage point above January and 1.3% above December. In February of last year, the rate was 6.0%.
