Tennessee State University is hoping to make history after their marching band was nominated for a Grammy in the roots gospel category. The historically Black university's Aristocrat of Bands teamed up with gospel songwriter and producer Sir the Baptist last year to record “The Urban Hymnal.” The record features an all-star ensemble of gospel singers. Some songs are new arrangements of classic hymns, while others were written especially for the new record. Baptist says gospel is embedded in the culture of HBCUs, so the collaboration made sense. For instance, at TSU, the fight song is the old Christian hymn, “I'm So Glad.” Baptist says, "These hymnals brought us from slavery to the White House.”

A lawyer for Eva Green has accused producers of a collapsed film of trying to damage the performer’s reputation by depicting her as a “diva.” The French actress played Vesper Lynd in James Bond thriller “Casino Royale.” She is suing producers for a $1 million fee she says she is owed for “A Patriot.” Green was lined up to star in the sci-fi thriller and was also an executive producer on the project that collapsed in late 2019. Production company White Lantern Film is fighting the claim and is countersuing. It says that Green made “unreasonable demands” and undermined the production. The case at the High Court in London is due to last eight days.

This we knew already: Jennifer Lopez can rock a wedding dress — and a wedding rom-com. “Shotgun Wedding” puts the ageless pop star at a stunning island resort, where her character, Darcy, plans to marry fiance Tom (played by Josh Duhamel). But then those darned pirates arrive with their machine guns and take everyone hostage in, well, an infinity pool. Lopez, who stars and produces, has all the charm and style we love her for, but the film suffers from a bizarre tonal imbalance, writes Associated Press critic Jocelyn Noveck. It's either too cartoonishly violent to be either romantic OR comedic. Jennifer Coolidge is funny but left searching for good lines. It streams on Amazon beginning Friday.
