A crowd of hundreds packed into seats, hallways and sidelines Monday evening at Atlantic Avenue United Brethren Church in Franklin for the much-anticipated public hearing on the planned closure of Polk Center.

"While our decisions are final, I hope tonight you can learn from each other," said Kristin Ahrens, the deputy secretary for the state's Office of Developmental Programs that is part of the Department of Human Services.
