A Cherrytree Township couple were jailed Wednesday for allegations of an ongoing pattern of child abuse.
Travis John Strawbridge, 38, and Katie Nicole Strawbridge, 39, are both facing 91 charges based on statements that a boy provided to Venango County Human Services and Franklin state police.
Criminal complaints filed by state police say the boy said he lives with his grandparents because he needed a break from always getting yelled at by the Strawbridges.
The boy said that at the Strawbridge house, he was made to stand in the corner almost constantly and that he slept in a cold bathroom that was locked from the outside, the complaint said.
He also said he had been bound with duct tape, tied to a tree in the woods while the Strawbridges were camping, made to drink hot sauce and made to stand outside in the snow in his bare feet and pajamas, according to the complaint.
Travis Strawbridge was charged with eight felony counts of kidnapping a minor, eight felony counts of false imprisonment of a minor and two felony counts of endangering the welfare of children.
He is also charged with the following misdemeanors: simple assault (five counts), endangering the welfare of children (59 counts), recklessly endangering another person (three counts) and simple assault (five counts).
Katie Strawbridge is charged with four felony counts of kidnapping a minor, four felony counts of kidnapping for ransom, eight felony counts of false imprisonment of a minor, two felony counts of endangering the welfare of children and all the same misdemeanors as her husband.
Both were placed in the Venango County jail with bail set at $75,000.
Their preliminary hearings are scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in Central Court before district judge Andrew Fish.
