Cranberry rallies to beef up fireworks budget

Organizers and sponsors for Cranberry Township's July 2 fireworks show met with township supervisors Thursday. The group exceeded its fundraising goal as a result of the generosity of local businesses, said fireworks committee member Scott Snow. The July 2 holiday fireworks extravaganza in Cranberry Township was close to being scrapped until the township supervisors and local businesses stepped up to fatten the budget for the event.

Earlier this month, supervisors Harold Best, Fred Buckholtz and Matt McSparren voted to up the annual $500 contribution for the fireworks to $2,000.
