Drake demolition

A BKI employee was cutting apart beams of the Drake Theatre and office building Monday as demolition at the site continued. BKI began demolition on the Oil City landmark on upper Seneca Street about two weeks ago. The demolition process is expected to take two to four months, including backfilling the full basement under the building, said Ryan Bell, the director of operations at Webco Industries, which now owns the property. Bell said the decision to tear down the theater came after structural engineers deemed the building unfit for occupation due to multiple issues, including the supports of the exterior wall of the theater being in poor condition.
