Venango County commissioners ratified an agreement Tuesday that will set construction of the multimodal transportation hub in Oil City in motion within a few weeks.

At county planning director Jason Ruggiero’s request, commissioners approved an agreement of sale with PennDOT to transfer ownership of the newly constructed parking lot at the intersection of Elm and Duncomb streets to the county.

The county’s economic development authority will oversee construction of the hub at that location, which is intended to serve as the county’s center for public transit operations.

In other business Tuesday, commissioners approved several appointments to the county planning commission.

Clinton Township supervisor Ben Porter was appointed to an elected position on the planning commission, and Sue Smith was appointed to a non-elected position.

Three other appointments were made to satisfy requirements of the Community Development Block Grant program. Recycling coordinator Erik Johnson was appointed labor standards officer, Josh Sterling was appointed language access coordinator, and county administrator Sabrina Backer was appointed 504 officer.

The board ratified the sales order agreement with Election Systems and Software, the company selected to provide new voting machines to the county that will be used in the November election.

“We’ve heard from other counties that said the transition was seamless and went off without a hitch,” Backer said.

Commissioners approved a request from Court Supervision Services to extend a contract for an extended warranty agreement with BI Inc. for the maintenance of house arrest equipment.

Two Mile Run County Park director Rich Mihalic said Saturday’s opening of Crosby Beach was well attended.

“We had a really good day thanks to the weather,” Mihalic said.

Mihalic also said target ranges are set up and the area is being prepared for the International Bowhunting Organization’s shooting event to be held July 12-14.

Commissioners will meet again at 6 p.m. July 9 in Room 100 of the Courthouse Annex in Franklin.
