NEW YORK (UPI) - Nolan Ryan may have come up with a solution National League pitchers have been seearching for all season - how to stop Willie Stargell.
"You have to outguess Stargell," said Ryan, who struck out the Pittsburgh slugger three times in the New York Mets' 4-0 victory over the Pirates. "Stargell is the type of hitter who tries to guess the pitch. You have to try to outguess him. You can never throw him the same thing twice in a row. You just have to keep mixing it up."
